area of shaded region=area of bigger square-area of unshaded region
so find the area of unshaded region first
side of smaller square =diameter of semicircle
radius of semicircle =(14-6)/4=8/4=2cm
therefore, area of unshaded region=4×area of each semicircle+area of smaller square
=4×(3.14×2×2÷2)+16
=4×(6.28)+16
=25.12+16
=41.12sqcm
area of bigger circle=14×14=196sqcm
area of shaded region=196-41.12
=154.88sqcm
