Correct Question -

Find the values of angle x and angle y in the above figure .

Solution -

In the above figure, -

In Triangle CDE -

Angle DCE = 25°

Angle CDE = 27°

Let the third angle , Angle DEC be k°

According to Angle Sum Property Of A Triangle ,

We know that sum of all angles of a triangle = 180°

Therefore Angle DCE + Angle CDE + Angle DEC = 180°

Substuting the given Values -

=> 25° + 27° + k° = 180°

=> k° + 52° = 180°

=> k ° = 128 °

Now, In line AC -

Angle AED and angle DEC form a linear pair .

Hence they are supplementary angles i.e, add up to 180°

So,

k° + x° = 180°

=> x° = 180° - 128 ° = 52° ........... [ A 1 ]

Now in the above figure, lines BC and DE see parallel to each other .

So,

Angle ADE and Angle ABC are equal as they are corresponding angles .

So,

Angle ADE = 68°

Now, in triangle ADE -

We have the values of Angle AED and Angle ADE

So,

y° + 52° + 68° = 180°

=> y° + 120° = 180°

=> y = 60° ............ [ A 2 ]
