in figure 1 ABCD is a rectangle find the values of X and Y

Opposite side of rectangles are equal so
x+y=30
x-y=14
2x=44
x=22cm
putting it in x+y=30
y=8cm

We know the opposite sides of a rectangle are if the same length.. so..ATP..x+y=30 and x-y=14..these r the two equations we need..on adding the two equations now we can find the value of x as +y and -y gets cancelled.. so 2x=44..x=22.and replacing the value of x in first or second equation we get the value of y as 8.problem solved!!
