In figure, a square of diagonal 8cm is inserted in a circle . Find the area of the shaded region.

diagonal = diameter = 8 cm

radius = 4 cm

Area of the circular =
 = \pi \: {4}^{2} \\ = 16 \times 3.14 \\ = 50.24 \: {cm}^{2}
Area of the square =
 \frac{1}{2} {d}^{2} = 0.5 \times 64 = 32
shaded area = 50.24 - 32 = 18.24
