diagonal = diameter = 8 cm

radius = 4 cm

Area of the circular =
$= \pi \: {4}^{2} \\ = 16 \times 3.14 \\ = 50.24 \: {cm}^{2}$
Area of the square =
$\frac{1}{2} {d}^{2} = 0.5 \times 64 = 32$
shaded area = 50.24 - 32 = 18.24
