To find,

Value of x.

Solution,

Let us construct a line parallel to AB and CD such that it cuts the angle x. Let that point be O.

Name the point corresponding to 140° be P and that corresponding to 35° be Q.

Now, CD is parallel to the newly constructed line. Alternate angle to the 35° angle contributes to the value of x.

x1 = 35°

For line AB and the newly constructed line,

Another component of angle x + 140° will be equal to 180°.

[ opposite interior angle sum ]  

Another component = 40° i.e x2 = 40°

Angle x will be equal to sum of both angles contributing to the value of x.

Mathematically,

x = x1 + x2

x = 35° + 40° = 75°

Therefore, the value of x is 75°
