Area of shaded part is 30.5 cm².

Given:

  • A figure.

To find:

  • Area of shaded figure.

Solution:

Concept to be used:

Area of shaded part= Area of circle-Area of rectangle.

Area of circle=\bf \pi \: {r}^{2} \\

Area of rectangle \bf =l\:\times\:b

Diagonal of rectangle = \bf \sqrt{l^2+b^2} \\

Step 1:

Find the area of the rectangle.

Length (AB)= 8 cm

Breadth (AD)= 6 cm

Area of rectangle =48\:cm^2 \\

Thus,

Area of rectangle 48 cm².

Step 2:

Find the area of the circle.

Diameter of circle= Diagonal of rectangle

Diameter of circle=\sqrt{64+36} \: cm

Diameter of circle= 10 cm

So,

Radius of circle=5 cm

Now,

Area of circle = 3.14 \times ( {5 )}^{2} \\

= 3.14 \times\:25 \\

Area of circle \bf = 78.5 \: {cm}^{2} \\

Thus,

The area of the circle is 78.5 cm².

Step 3:

Find the area of the shaded region.

Area of shaded region = 78.5 - 48 \\

 = 30.5 \: {cm}^{2} \\

Thus,

Area of the shaded part is 30.5 cm².
