In figure,
point Q is on the side mp such
that MQ=2 and mp = 5.5
bisector of angle MNP OF triangle MNP. Find MN:NP.

Given:- Point Q is on the side mp such

that MQ=2 and MP= 5.5 bisector of angle MNP OF triangle MNP.

To find :- MN : NP

Solution:-

MP = MQ + QP

so, 5.5 = MQ + QP

or, 5.5 = 2 + QP [where MQ=2]

or,QP= 3.5

By the angle bisector theorem we can say that in triangle MNP,

MN/NP = MQ/QP

or,MN/NP= 2/3.5

or, MN/NP= 4/7

Hence, MN : NP = 4:7.(Ans)
