x = 30° and y = 70°

Given:

T perpendicular to PR

angle TQR=60°

angle SPR = 40°

To find:

find the values of x and y

Solution:

∠ RTQ = 90°(T perpendicular to PR )

In Δ QTR,

∠QRT + ∠RTQ + ∠TQR = 180°( Sum of angles of a triangle)

x + 90° + 60° = 180°

x + 150° = 180°

x = 180°- 150°

x = 30°

In Δ PSR,

∠PSQ = ∠SPR + ∠PRS( exterior angle of triangle is sum of opposite interior angles)

y = 40°+ 30°

y = 70°

Hence, x = 30° and y = 70°.
