heat is transferred by conduction when adjacent atoms vibrate against one another, or as electrons move from one atom to another. Conduction is the most significant means of heat transfer within a solid or between solid objects in thermal contact. Fluids—especially gases—are less conductive.

Answer:

In gases heat is mainly transferred by Convection.

Sometimes radiation is also responsible for heat transformation in gas.

Explanation:

  • Heat Transformation: Heat can be transformed from one material to another or from one part of the matter to other by any of the three processes: (i) conduction

                           (ii) convection

                           (iii) radiation

  • By conduction method heat is transferred through solid medium.
  • By convection method heat is transferred through liquid and gaseous medium.
  • No medium is required for heat transformation by radiation method. But sometimes by radiation method heat transferred through gas.

Example-  When a candle glows its heat rises upward through the gas present in room by convection method.

But if we put our hand at the side of the candle flame then we feel the heat. That heat is radiated from the flame by radiation method through the gas in room.

So, through gases heat is transferred by convection and radiation method.
