As we know that,
⇒ ΔADE ≈ Δ ABC.
⇒ AD/DB = AE/EC.
⇒ AD = x + 4.
⇒ DB = x + 3.
⇒ AE = 2x - 1.
⇒ EC = x + 1.
Put the values in the equation, we get.
⇒ (x + 4)/(x + 3) = (2x - 1)/(x + 1).
⇒ (x + 4)(x + 1) = (2x - 1)(x + 3).
⇒ x² + x + 4x + 4 = 2x² + 6x - x - 3.
⇒ x² + 5x + 4 = 2x² + 5x - 3.
⇒ 2x² + 5x - 3 - x² - 5x - 4 = 0.
⇒ 2x² - x² + 5x - 5x - 3 - 7 = 0.
⇒ x² - 10 = 0.
⇒ x² = 10.
⇒ x = √10.
