Answer:

8cm

Step-by-step explanation:

As according to theorem 10.2-

the length of tangents drawn from an external point of circle are equal

so, AE=AF. (1)

BF=BD. (2)

CD=CE. (3)

from (1)

AE= 3cm

also, AC = AE +CE

CE= AC-AE

CE= 9-3 = 6cm

according to (3)

CD=CE

CD=6cm

now as according to (2)

BF=BD

and BF= 5cm [given]

=> BD= 5cm

BC= BD +CD

BC= 5+3

BC= 8cm

therefore the value of BC is 8cm.

Hope this helps you!!!☺️

Answer:

11cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: AF=3cm

BF=5cm

AC=9cm

To find: BC=?

Solution:

We know that, length of tangent drawn from an external point of circle are equal.

so, AF=AE ——— 1

BF=BD ——— 2

CE=CD ——— 3

then, from 1 : AE= 3cm

from 2 : BD= 5cm

now, AC = AE + CE

9cm= 3cm + CE

9cm - 3cm = CE

6cm = CE

CE = 6cm

from 3 :

CD = 6cm

and BC = BD + CD

BC= 5cm + 6cm

BC= 11 cm Answer
