Women play a very important role in creating a strong nation. The 3Ls of empowerment by Christine Lagarde  emphasizes the significance of the position of women in the the present world, However in India women do not get equal space in the society

Explanation:

  • We recognize that education is incredibly important in today's world. Illiteracy & gender oppression are one of the most critical reasons why India does not develop quickly enough. No nation will make change if 50% of its population is isolated. Also many educated women in India cannot work, this is a major downside to the country.
  • Even if a women is allowed to work, there is discrimination & lack of opportunities at the workplace and women are not paid equally as men for the same work. While many constitutional changes were made for the benefit of women socially , economically and politically yet they were never successful at improving the situation dramatically. A significant percentage of women are still uneducated women and even today there are places where women are married off before the age of 18.
  • Studies estimate about 245 million Indian women do not have the basic reading & writing skills, which is very high. Only 13.9 per cent of the female population is employed in the urban sector, and 29 per cent in the domestic and agriculture sectors. India's sex ratio reveals that the Indian culture is still prejudicial to women, & much needs to be achieved in that regard
  • Women who leave secured domains of their home, needs to face the cruel, harsh, &exploitative world, wherein women must prove their talent against the world that perceive women merely someone who is only meant to produce children. The Indian woman still has along way to go and she has to "make her way through" all the "socialised prejudices" against her, for her develop and grow, which will also lead to development and growth of the nation.
