Given : In ΔHIJ, the measure of ∠J=90°, the measure of ∠H=8°, and HI = 30 feet.

To  Find :  the length of IJ to the nearest tenth of a foot.

Solution:

ΔHIJ, the measure of ∠J=90°,

Sin ( angle ) = Perpendicular / Hypotenuse

Sin ∠H  =  IJ / HI

=> Sin (8°)  =  IJ / 30

=> IJ = 30  Sin (8°)

=> IJ = 4.175

=> IJ = 4.2    to the nearest tenth of a foot.

length of IJ to the nearest tenth of a foot.  = 4.2  feet
