Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that MQNB is a circular horizontal curved railway path, and a train is moving along this path. (See the attached diagram)

Now, superelevation is the rising of the outer track with respect to the inner track of a curved railway path to control the skidding or overturning outwards of a moving train.

Hence, negative superelevation will be similar to superelevation but in that case, the inner track will be raised with respect to the outer track.

In the diagram, ΔABC and ΔPQR show the cross-section of the path at point A and P, where AC and PR are the superelevations or raised inner track than the outer track B and Q. This type of superelevation is called the negative superelevation.
