At puberty due to the secretion of FSH and LH ,the primary follicles get converted to secondary follicles which are millions in number . If you talk about one ovary only then the time time interval between two consecutive ovulation is generally 56 days. so you can say that on an average the secondary follicle takes 56 days to attain complete maturity so as to become the pre-ovulatory follicle i.e the Graafian follicle which is ready to ovulate. The ovule also attains functional maturity along with the growing follice.
