Growing up in the anti-semitic environment of Nazi rule, racial hatred was a constant threat in the lives of the Jews. Anne was transported from one concentration camp to another, she ultimately died due to a typhus epidemic as a result of unsanitary living conditions. Her body was dumped in a mass grave. Anne might have been shielded from the crippling effects of anti-semitism as she belonged to a wealthier social class and her father could manage to arrange for their hiding. But the fact that she had to spend the last years of her life in hiding in a so-called modern society shows that the debilitating effects of racial hatred could not be escaped by Anne.
