in how much time does a train of length x moving with a velocity cross a bridge of length y?

Velocity = Net Displacement / Total time

If v is the velocity of train then
Time = (x + y) / v

Why x + y?
Because a train is said to be crossed the bridge only when its end in no more on the bridge,
