Human B cells and T cells are matured in the bone marrow and thymus respectively.
- Bone marrow and thymus are the primary lymphoid organs that help in the maturation of T and B cells.
- T-cells majorly mature in the thymus and lymph nodes.
- B-cells mature in the bone marrow and lymph nodes.
- Lymph nodes are secondary lymphoid organs.
- T cells migrate from bone marrow to the Thymus where only cells capable of distinguishing self and nonself cells survive, to prevent Autoimmunity.
- Tcell mature into three types:
- T-H = T-helper cells
- T-C = T-cytotoxic cells
- T-suppressor cells
- B cells proliferate and differentiate into Plasma and memory B cells.
- Plasma B cells secrete antibodies specific for a particular antigen.
