The mouth is the organ in which the process of digestion take place and also digestion of carbohydrates take place in mouth. . Salivary glands secretes saliva which contain enzyme salivary amylase . This enzyme digest almost 30% of carbohydrates. Then, the digestion of carbohydrate stops in the stomach. The gastric glands of stomach release gastric juice that contain protein digesting enzymes. Hence the rest of the digestion process is completed in small intestine.
