NO, this thickening is not permanent. If the egg released doesn't get fertilised, the thickened lining in the inner wall of uterus breaks down and this waste product is given out. This breaking down of the lining and giving it out of the body is called MENSTRUATION OR MENSTRUAL CYCLE. The thickening takes place every month, so if this process doesn't take place there will an açcumulation of these lining causing other serious problems
