seperation between positive and negative charge , d = 5.29 × 10^-11 m

magnitude of charge on proton or electron , q = 1.6 × 10^-19 C

we know,

dipole moment is the product of magnitude of charge and seperation between charges.

i.e., P = qd

= 1.6 × 10^-19C × 5.29 × 10^-11 m

= 8.464 × 10^-30 Cm

We know, 1 debye = 3.336 × 10^-30 Cm

so, dipole moment , P = (8.464/3.336) = 2.537 Debyes.

direction of dipole moment ⇒ from negative charge to positive charge.

so, direction of P ⇒ from electron to proton.
