It is true because in India mostly women are working as a daily wage worker in rural areas.
The second reason is that in rural areas people don't prefer a girl child because they think that the girl didn't help the financial condition of the family, while a boy child can support them.
While in other countries there women and men are equal.

yes,it is true that in india literacy rate of womens is less than some of the countries.because in India the mentallity of the peoples is very low standard. Day by Day the awareness for females education is increasing in India but still in some of the states yet the population is not that much Aware but as we move towards southern part of the region the literacy rate for womens will increase
