In india reservation should be based on income or caste?

In India the current system of reservation must be terminated and should be definitely based on income. The opportunity for getting educated must be given to the one who really deserves it but can't, as they are financially not sound. Earmarking x no: of seats for people on the mere basis of caste won't give our country a productive youth to lead our country tomorrow. Whereas giving opportunity for people who excel in academics but can't continue their studies further because of financial problems must be given more opportunities in this country. Jai hind.
