Then why do we celebrate Raksha-Bandhan and Bhai-Duj (brother-sister days), Guru-Purnima (teachers day) in India? Do they mean we don’t love or respect our siblings and teachers for the rest of the year?

Though love, respect, care are present throughout the relationship, explicit “I Love You” is advisable to make the partner feel and understand what they mean to us. Tiny deeds and few words make the opposite person feel special.

Another motive of day celebration is to remind the individual about their importance, existence, and contribution in one's life. If one forgot to remember or talk to his mother in the past year, this day suggests him to start over again and call-meet-greet, showing the gratitude to his mother on this day and for the rest of the life. Same goes for Father's Day, friendship day, Yoga Day, Teacher’s Day and all other days.

India is country of मातृ-पितृ देवो भव, and we should happily welcome these days and extend our celeb-days list.

We can celebrate anything we want.
