In INDIA why the rains start from Kerala region first
Answers
Explanation:
Winds from south west of India blow towards the Indian peninsula during summer (red arrows). These winds carry moisture that they have picked up from the seas, and deposit the moisture over the Indian subcontinent in the form of rain. Now, it is easy to understand why Kerala receives rainfall first : the winds first hit Kerala and the western coast before reaching Delhi and other interior regions. Also, since much of the moisture is blocked by the western ghats, the interior regions receive less rainfall(winds that move across the Bay of Bengal move towards North East India, causing heavy rainfall there). During winter, these winds move in the opposite direction ( blue arrows). But since they are now moving from land to sea, they carry no moisture ( except the Bay of Bengal winds, which deposit rain in southern India ).
