Answer: If you grow plants such that a symbiotic relationship is created for nutrients then it will help in better yields.

Explanation:

If you grow plants that consume nitrogen from the soil and at the same field you also grow legumes (plants which restore nitrogen into the soil) both the plants will grow and you will get higher yield.

Answer:

Inter-cropping is the method of growing two or more crops in the same field in close proximity.

Row inter-cropping involves inter-cropping in rows. This method helps better utilisation of land space and also suppresses weed growth. In fields with perennial crops, annual crops like pineapple, rice are grown. Coconut farms involve quincunx planting system where filler crops like mangosteen are grown in between. Plantations of banana, coffee, and papaya are also mixed in row inter-cropping. The inter-crops are mostly grown at the juvenile stage of the initial crop. So that the flowering of the second plant starts at the harvest time of the first plant and thus the farmer can get yields in closer periods throughout the year. Sometimes, both the crop and the inter-crop are harvested together.

Relay inter-cropping also involves inter-cropping in relays along during the harvest of the existing crop to get maximum yield.

Strip inter-cropping applies cropping different crops in strips to allow more mechanised farming and thereby increasing yield.

Mixed inter-cropping like growing corn, bean etc enhances the yield of all the inter-crops because the fertilizer and other pesticides are shared by the crops.
