In kerosene or gas stove between the bottom of the vessel and the burner there is a gap by design . why?​

This cause by uneven heating...and in result the vessels get blackened.. because of the inlets of air getting closed . the fuel gases do not completely undrgo combustion. hence , it forms a sooty carbon form which gets coated over the vessels.
