In lab H₂O₂ is prepared by

(a) Cold H₂SO₄ + BaO₂

In the lab, H₂O₂ is prepared by the action of cold sulphuric acid ( H₂SO₄) on Barium peroxide (BaO₂).

This reaction is an example of double displacement reaction.

[Ba²⁺ of BaO₂ reacts with SO₄²⁻ of H₂SO₄, to produce BaSO₄.  Similarly,  H₂⁺ of  H₂SO₄ reacts with O₂⁻ of BaO₂, to give H₂O₂].

The reaction is shown below.

Cold H₂SO₄ + BaO₂ → BaSO₄ + H₂O₂

If BaO₂ is present in its octa-hydrate form, then the reaction looks like,

Cold H₂SO₄ + BaO₂.8H₂O → BaSO₄ + H₂O₂ +8H₂O

So, option (a), is correct.
