More hail falls between the latter part of February and through March. If the weather is cold then only the young play Holi, as it involves spraying coloured water on each other along with applying coloured powder. A warmer March ensures that more people can enjoy this weather, for then the middle aged and elders also join in. Hence the author refers to Holi as a ‘chancy affair.’
