Their is an epiglottis which cover the food pipe when we inhale air while epiglottis open when we eat

During swallowing of food, It doesn't enter windpipe because, a leaf shaped substance known as epiglottis form a layer of fluid and stops the food entering wind pipe.
Epiglottis is present just below larynx i, e. Voice box...!!
