Let actual sides of the rectangle are l and b respectively.

The measured sides are(l+0.057) and (b + 0.036) i.e. 1.057 and 1.036

Therefore,

Measured area

= (1.057) (1.036)

Actual area

= Error in area

=1.0815lb-lb

=0.0815lb

Therefore , % error=0.0815/lb × 100% = 8.15%
