During Europe and Asia antiquity the cultural, religious took place between the major centres in civilisation trade played a major role. The merchants diplomats, and travellers could cross the ancient world in west china and east japan with Spain and British people.
So the goods were transported either to pack by animals by seagoing ships and spice routed with the silk and main arteries of contact in between the ancient empires of the Old World. There are some areas with monopoly on certain material of goods.
