In Meditation 1, Descartes attempts to show the doubtfulness even of knowledge
that seems to have such a high degree of certainty that it is not challenged even by
the dream doubt.
a. What sort of knowledge is not challenged by the dream doubt, and how does
Descartes try to establish that even this type of knowledge is doubtful.
b. Do you believe Descartes succeeds in establishing that there is good reason to
doubt this sort of knowledge? Give reasons for your answer.
