In Merchant of Venice Act 1, Scene, 3, Shylock says, "What of that? Tubal, a wealthy Hebrew of my tribe, Will furnish me." Here, I know what this line means -- Shylock cannot pay the money immediately, and he says " But so what? Tubal, a wealthy Jew I know, will supply me with the cash". So, my question is, why does Antonio have to Borrow money from Shylock? Why can't he borrow money from the wealthy jew "Tubal". Why does he have to borrow money from Shylock, and shylock has to borrow from Tubal??
Does anyone know the answer?
Just curious...
