Democracy-
A form of govt in which representatives of the people are elected by the people and for the people.
"In modern democracy, power sharing arrangments can take many forms" , it is true as follows-
1. Horizontal form of Power sharing-
1.1 In this , power is divided between various organ of the govt.
1.2 These are Legislative, Executive and Judiciary.
1.3 These are placed on the same level but have different powers.
1.4 Each organ keeps check on other.
1.5 It ensures no one exercises infinite power.
2. Vertical form of Power sharing-
1.1 In this , power is divided between the different levels of the govt.
1.2 These are Central govt, state govt and local govt.
1.3 This system is also called Federal system.
1.4 Two tier and three tiers distribution are there in it
3. Power Sharing among Different Social Groups -
3.1 Power can also be shared among social groups such as religious and linguistic groups.
3.2 The best example for this is the Community Government in Belgium.
3.3 As far as our country is concerned some legal as well as constitutional arrangements are doing such a remarkable job.
3.4 By these arrangements people from the socially backward areas are coming to the administration as well as legislatures.
4. Power Sharing among Political Parties, Pressure Groups and Movements-
4.1 Constitution provides a right to vote. It provides the citizens a freedom to choose their political leaders.
4.2 They can exercise their vote during the elections.
4.3 Elections provides competition among the candidates , the battle between them is decided by each and every vote of the citizens.
4.4Thus such competition in our country ensures that sharing of power is equal. It is not always in the hand of a single person or a single party.
Hope it helps
