Heyo!!!
The plant is kept in dark room for destarching i.e. to remove the strach stored in the plants....
Then the plant is kept under sunlight to make the plant perform photosynthesis....
The experiment was conducted on two leaves and two leaves were studied....
The leaf which is kept in bottle with potassium hydroxide didn't show presence of starch that shows photosynthesis didn't occur...
The leaf kept in open air shows the presence of starch that shows photosynthesis occured....
Two leaves were studied to show/Prove the importance of carbon dioxide in photosynthesis....
Hope this helps you :)

1) first the plant kept in dark to destarch the plant (to remove the starch) and then kept in sunlight to occur the photosynthesis process which helps to present the starchin leaves for testing whether carbondioxide is present or not. 2) we tested two leaf because the first leaf which is kept in sunlight occurs photosynthesis which have the starch and the second leaf which kept in potasium hydroxide solution doesn't takes place the photosynthesis
