Differences between group and period are =>

1=> periods are horizontal rows whereas groups are vertical columns.

2=> valency is same as you go down a group whereas valency changes while going from left to right in a period.

3=> Electronegative decreases as you go down the group and increases as you go up due to an increased whereas Electronegativity increases as you go from left to right across the period .

4=> There are 7 periods in a periodic table whereas the number of groups are 18.

5=> elements have same number of valence electrons in a group whereas elements in period have different number of valence electrons.
