There are many advantages of chemical communication over electrical impulses as mode of communication. Among them few are as follows :

1) Electrical impulses can only be received by those cells that are connected by the neurons, or nerve cells. Hence they cannot reach every cell of the body.

2) Once an electrical impulse is generated by a cell, the cell take time to rest its mechanism before generating another impulse. In simpler words, the cell cannot continuously generate electrical impulses.

Chemical communication is where a cell releases chemicals and this gets diffused in the surrounding cells. Hence all cells can receive the message and take the action.
