we got ionic bond in NaCl because Na has one valence electron and by losing one electron it becomes Na+ and by gaining that electron Cl becomes Cl- and by joining they form neutral compound.now here Na+ is cation and Cl- is anion both get together and hence formed by them is ionic bond.
