If Active NameNode fails, then passive NameNode takes all the responsibility of active node and cluster continues to work. - When active node fails, then Passive node takes the responsibility of active node.
- Passive node is also called standby namenode that takes the responsibility to remove the problem of single point of failure (SPOF).
- It contains Checkpoints on their local file systems by downloading fsimage and edits lo file.
- This will help the HDFS for maintaining consistency wherever it leads to crash.
