In Odisha thousands of Oliver Ridley turtles are caught up in the nets of trawlers,     doing illegal fishing, and suffocated to death. 

    In Rajasthan, Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh spiral tailed lizards are sold in the market     as a medicine. Their necks are broken in the presence of customers and put into     boiling water. The yellow coloured fat that oozes out, is sold at Rs. 60 a small     bottle. The reptiles are pinned on the trees and skinned alive to ensure that the     skin remains soft. Frogs are thrown back after chopping off their legs. Hundreds of     animals and birds are mindlessly killed during the annual tribal hunt. Cruelty to     animal, in spite of a lot of hue and cry about wildlife protection is on the increase.

    Only people can save the animals from needless pain and death. It is high time for      we Indians to wake up, lest we shall be forgotten for the values for which we are     known all over the world. Animals and wildlife are important and precious gift of     God. Let’s love and conserve them.
