question:-

Answer:-

Well, I don’t know where you are from, so I don’t know your traditions, but here are some more traditional methods of purifying water, as in mostly able to be done without special equipment.

1: Filtration. In the case of being in the wild, you can make a water filter with natural resources if you have something like a PET bottle to use. Just cut the bottom of bottom of the bottle off, and turn the now funnel shaped bottle upside down. Then arrange different objects according to size smaller particles at the bottom, larger ones at the top. For example, from top to bottom: leaves, bigger rocks, smaller rocks, gravel, sand. You can have a layer of some crushed charcoal in between layers of sand, it will greatly improve the filter. To prevent the things from falling out, tie a piece of cloth at the bottom of the bottle.

2: Distillation. This requires quite a bit more setup. Place a bowl in the center of a pot, making sure it is secured to the bottom of the pot, easiest method is by weighing it down. The bowl should not be made of material that conducts heat well. Wooden bowl are a good choice. Paper bowls actually work very well too, but may need to be replaced after several uses. Fill the pot with water, but leave the bowl empty. Next, cover the top of the pot with a film of some kind that is waterproof, and at least heatproof enough to not melt due to the heat, aluminum foil works. Then put a weight on the middle, so that the film is dropped in the middle. Fill up the top of the film with cold water, this is optional but it will speed up the process. Remember to poke a few small holes on the edge of the film so that air can escape, but not too big so that too much of the vapor escapes. Build a fire and place the pot over it. The water will evaporate, but the vapor will get caught on the film, and it will condense back to droplets of water, and it roll down the bottom of the film towards to center due to the shape of the film, and drip down into the bowl. The water in the bowl after the process is complete is distilled water.

setup is similar to this, but instead of plant matter, you have water. And a fire instead of hot water.

Hope this helps
