Answer:

Let Mr. Tan's monthly salary be X.

Amount spent on Car Loan - 3/8of X - 3/8X

Remaining amount - ( x- 3/8x) = 5/8x

Amount spent on food - 5/7 of (5/8x) = 25/56x

Amount saved - x-(3/8x)-(25/56x) = 10/56x = 5/28x

AMOUNT ON FOOD = $1125 + AMOUNT SAVED

25/56x = 1125 + (5/28x)

25/56 = 1125 + 10/56X

15/56x = 1125

x = (1125x56)/15=(225x56)/3= 75X56 = $4200

Therefore, Mr. Tans monthly salary is $4200.
