In order for cells to function properly (and not die), they must undergo homeostasis. This just means they must maintain a consistent internal environment. It’s sort of like when you get really hot: you sweat more to cool off and keep yourself (hopefully) from having a heat stroke. But this kind of adjustment occurs at the cellular level too. Cells need to extract energy in order to maintain homeostasis, and they get this energy from nutrients that pass into them. What is the name of this movement of nutrients?
