in order to find the boiling point of water one of the precautions is that the bulb of the thermometer should not touch the side of the leader why is it too

The beaker is made up of glass and glass has a comparatively lower temperature than the boiling water. So if the thermometer touches the glass, it's mercury willl fall resulting in inaccurate temperature.
