in order to increase the sales, a showroom offers discount of 15% on shirts. as a result profit reduces from rs.240 to rs.135 on every shirt what is the cost price of a shirt?

let cp be x initially..then initial sp will be x+240.....after 15% discount on sp .new sp =x+135 so 15%of x+240=x+135....so (x+240)-0.15(x+240)=x+135 ,so x+240-0.15x-36=x+135,so 69=0.15x ,so x=460
hence required cp is rs.460.
