Hey buddy! Just to simply the above ratio, multiply 2 for each so that you get 18:2:7

Now since the ratio of masses is already given it makes our task much easier.
The ratio we got by multiplying 2 is the ultimate answer i.e C18H2N7. Is the empirical formula.
Hope that helps you :-)

angelic090: i would be glad to know how you got the answer
nitin25384: mass ratio of C:H:N is 9:1:3.5.....take the case of c3h4n.......36:4:14.......and simplify it .....
nitin25384: and you will get the same mass ratio
nitin25384: hope it is useful to you
angelic090: why should one take the case of c3h4n without knowing
nitin25384: it's like checking the possible options
angelic090: thats not the thing! how can one check the possibilities one by one? suppose u were not knowing the answer then what
nitin25384: I'm sorry I forgot to post the options
angelic090: oh
angelic090: okay then
