Question

In our book it is written that a mixture of chalk powder and water is a suspension and a solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances.I want to know why cant we call mixture of chalk powder and water a solution.

you cannot mix chalk powder completely with water...chalk powder cannot be evenly distributed all over water..it will always be unevenly distributed. so it cannot be a solution....you can separate chalk powder from water by filtering. so it cannot be a solution. it is a suspension.
