In our society the women are often blamed for giving birth to daughters. can you explain why this is not correct?

It is not correct because it is not depended on a women thant a girl will come or a boy because she has only xx chromosomes it us dependent upon man because he has both xy chromosome and nither man or women can't decide that who will come.

First of all, a baby's gender cannot be decided by anyone.. it's simply the gift of nature.
And if someone doesn't like to raise a girl child, then that person is uneducated even if he/she has done graduation.
Dowry is the reason why people in the past were avoiding girl child, so that they need not loose their family wealth for her marriage.
Dowry: In India, It is our cultural practice to let the bride shift along with her belongings permanantly from her birth home to her Husband's home as the new couple would start their family there only.
Husband's home is choosen because to run a family at least one person has to earn a regular income for the family, and at least one person should manage the entire family. So normally husband has a responsibility to earn wealth for the family, Wife has the responsibility to manage and guide the family in the right direction. Our home can be shifted easily but a job cannot be shifted easily as it depends on that particular environment. hence the husband's home which is possibly near his workplace is chosen to run the family.
Since the new bride would naturally feel uncomfortable to use things in her new home, her parents gift some things used in daily life to their daughter's new family so that she feels comfortable there.
Gradually people started to announce dowry as if it is their prestige issue in front of the society. Hence high dowry and extravagant weddings has become a dream of most people in our society, though both these are suppose to be as simple as possible.
As the dowry expectations of husband's family increased, some of his family members would feel unsatisfied about his wife just because the dowry she brought to the home was lower than their unfair expectations. Such family members are not mature enough to respect the values of any person as they can see value in money only. So they see girl as a lose just because they have to spend dowry for her in future. And they blame the bride for unnecessarily for every silly issues including if she gives birth to a wonderful girl child.
