When $BC$ as base and $AF$ as height,

Area of Parallelogram $ABCD=BC\times AF$

                                                 $=BC\times 7$  $cm^{2}$

Area of Parallelogram $ABCD$ are equal on both sides,

So,

$BC\times 7=84$

⇒ $BC=\frac{84}{7}$

∴ $AD=12cm$ (∵ $BC=AD$ )

So, The value of $AD$ is $12cm$
